Riley Harris

Contributing Writer

Riles Kiley is a freelance journalist and writer living in Portland, Oregon. She graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2015 with a BA in Anthropology. Riles has also assisted a crew of street medics working on the frontlines of conflicts between protesters, antifascists, police, federal agents, and far-right militants. Soon after, she found herself with a camera documenting acts of violence. It is this experience that inspired her to begin studying and writing about violence, war, and conflict. She also began documenting the increasing amount of homelessness and drug use across Portland. Recently, her on-the-ground reporting has been featured in Popular Front Magazine. Her latest articles include “Trans and Dangerous”, about an armed and tactically-trained transgender community defense unit in Eugene, Oregon, and “3D-Printed Rocket Launchers for Everyone”, about a 3D weapons designer’s secret project to make his 3D-printed recoilless launcher accessible and available to anyone through open source.
