The Modern Insurgent is an independent grassroots media organisation which specialises solely on insurgencies, rebellions, and political movements from around the globe. Our objective is to remain impartial and to enable our readers to better understand the relationships and dynamics between the world's political struggles. We focus on the niche and under-reported details of modern insurgency through our Insurgency Reports and unique productions.
Our Story
It seems every media outlet focuses on the big picture of every conflict; every time we hear about an ongoing political dispute or war, we hear about the violence, the response of the international community, and the implications for us all. Rarely, however, does the media offer a quality insight on why an insurgency is engaging in its political struggle. There needs to be an alternative to reading brief, oversimplified overviews of groups online. The Modern Insurgent provides this alternative.
