On Sunday, 30 March, the Sudanese Armed Forces retook Khartoum two years after being driven out of the city by the rebel Rapid Support Forces.
[CLASH]
This marks the government forces largest victory since the Sudanese Civil War began in 2023, as they now control the capital of Sudan again.
The government must now decide its next moves, and weigh whether it is worth it to push further west into the RSF stronghold of Darfur. Doing so could bring the war to a swifter end, but would also stretch supply lines, potentially to a breaking point.
Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar all support the Sudanese government in the war, which has so far killed tens of thousands of people, displaced millions more, and caused a terrible famine.
