On February 5, the Greek anarchist collective, Rouvikonas, staged a demonstration at the Hellenic Parliament. They displayed a banner that read "Cover-Up" in protest of the handling of the Tempi train disaster.
The group has accused the government of systemic failures, citing public sector negligence, corruption, and media manipulation.
The Tempi train disaster, which occurred on February 28, 2023, claimed 57 lives and remains one of the most tragic incidents in recent Greek history.
On January 26th, almost hundreds of thousands of people across Greece gathered for a national uproar for resistance as public outrage has been reignited following new reports suggesting that the Tempi crash was exacerbated by a fire involving suspected illegal chemicals in one of the freight cars.
Critics like Rouvikonas and many others have accused the government of attempting to cover up key evidence and failing to pursue an effective investigation.
Rouvikonas continues to stand in solidarity with the victims' families, condemning what they describe as state corruption and capitalist-driven negligence. Security forces quickly intervened and escorted the group out of the parliament building after their demonstration.
Nevertheless, the activists emphasized their commitment to seeking justice and mobilizing the public to prevent future tragedies and state-induced violence.
