Babbar Khalsa (BK), or Babbar Khalsa International, is a Sikh separatist armed organisation with members in India, Europe, and North America. The group was formed in 1978 by Sukhdev Sing Babbar in India with the goal of establishing an independent Sikh state, known as Khalistan, in the Punjab region of India. It was inspired by Sikh militant groups of the early 20th century and was formed following sectarian clashes in Punjab in the 1970s.
